Children with CAPD may actually grow out of this problem. According to Burleigh, Skinner, and Norris (1982), approximately 60% of children initially identified for central auditory difficulties will "outgrow" this condition. However, that leaves a significant number of children who still have difficulties processing auditory information in later years.
